New York City is one of the top destinations to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Of course, there’s the famous ball drop in Times Square, but unless you like standing in one spot for hours in freezing temperatures without any access to a bathroom, there are lots of other ways to ring in 2017 in NYC.
New Year’s Eve Concerts
NYC hosts a ton of great acts on New Year’s Eve that everyone can enjoy. If you like your jams heady and your New Year’s dank (am I doing this right, brah?), long-running jam band, Phish, is back at Madison Square Garden in what has become an annual event.
If you’re looking for something more intimate and raucous, indie rock legends, Guided By Voices, are bringing the party to Music Hall of Williamsburg. Meanwhile, Titus Andronicus will bring their anthemic punk rock to Brooklyn Night Bazaar in Greenpoint.

Fireworks at Prospect Park
Prospect Park will be celebrating its 150th anniversary with its fireworks display on New Year’s Eve. With live music and hot chocolate being served, this is a great event to cozy up with your loved ones and enjoy.
Themed Dance Parties
We may have lost The Purple One this year, but we can still party like it’s 1999 in spirit. In Bushwick, Syndicated is hosting their 3rd annual Purple Rain Dance Party, with projections of the film and DJs spinning Prince classics. Over in Williamsburg at Videology, a Boogie Nights New Year’s Eve Dance Party is going down. Costumes are encouraged for both!
Look, 2016 was a pretty tough year for a lot of people. We won’t judge if you decide to just put on some sweats and curl up on your couch while watching The Twilight Zone marathon. Say goodbye to 2016 and wake up refreshed for 2017 with no hangover. That’s the life.
Or, you can go hard one more time and check out more New Year’s Eve events in NYC.
Of course, always party and drink responsibly! If you need a safe ride home or to an event, contact Dial 7 to get you there.
