Summer in NYC means lots of heat, humidity and weird smells, but also lots of great concerts to see!
Here are a selection of shows coming up this week that Dial 7 recommends you check out:
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Beacon Theatre – June 13 and 14

At nearly 60 years old, Nick Cave is still one of the most enthralling frontmen around. Expect to hear everything from mournful ballads to brooding noise rock from the band’s 30+ year history. Also prepare to swoon.
The Avalanches
Music Hall of Williamsburg – June 13

Australian electronic group The Avalanches are one of the more unique and exciting mashup artists to come around in the past couple of decades. Their live show is a combo of DJ plus live instruments and vocals that is sure to be a party.
Sigur Ros
Forest Hills Stadium – June 17th
You may not be able to understand Icelandic band Sigur Ros’ lyrics (sung in either Icelandic or the band’s own “Hopelandic” language) but you will still be able to feel the emotions behind each swelling, climactic song. The band is also known for their impressive light show.
LCD Soundystem
Brooklyn Steel – June 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24
Sure, it feels like just yesterday that we said goodbye to LCD Soundsystem and these days it seems like they’re always playing NYC, but that doesn’t take anything away from their excellent live shows. Plus, you now have seven chances (!) to see them at the brand new Brooklyn Steel venue over the next two weeks so no more excuses (unless the tickets sell out within 2 minutes, sorry).
This is quite the week here in NYC and that’s not even touching on the legendary Bob Dylan’s three shows at Capitol Theatre this week. Who are you planning on seeing?
