Halloween 2017 officially starts this weekend and with events for everyone, including the dog! We know New York offers hundreds of events related to this great festivity. Giant Pumpkin Weekend | NY Botanical Garden | October 21 & 22

Monstrous pumpkins from around the country—some weighing in at more than a ton—once again arrive at the Garden, arranged in collaboration with the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth. Meet the growers to learn more about the growing process during Q&A sessions and enjoy photo ops with these giant gourds, on display through October 31. More.


Village Halloween Parade |Sixth Ave from Spring St to 16th St in Manhattan |6:00 pm | Oct 31

This Halloween, tens of thousands of costumed revelers will march through the belly of Manhattan in the biggest display of Halloween spirit on earth.  Sign up via their website now to volunteer to be a puppeteer or a performer in the procession; to walk in the parade, just turn up in an amazing outfit. Line up at Sixth Avenue and Canal St. The parade goes down Sixth Ave from Spring St to 16th St. More.


Boo at the Zoo | Oct 21 -29

The Bronx Zoo goes all out for Halloween every weekend in October. After a hayride in the haunted forest, catch acoustic performances, beer and food-truck bites at Bootoberfest (noon–4pm), take part in a costume parade (noon–2pm), and face spectral birds of horror lore, including ravens, vultures and owls (11am–3pm). Halloween Parade and Pumpkin Flotilla | 4:00 pm | Oct 29

Bring the whole family and celebrate Halloween in Central Park. Enjoy pumpkin carving, Halloween crafts, spooky stories, a costume parade, and most of all the Conservancy’s signature Pumpkin Flotilla, which sets sail across the Harlem Meer at twilight! MoMA PS1 Halloween Ball | 8:00 pm | Oct 28

Calling all creatures of the night for an evening of futuristic fantasy, exploring the vast reaches of the creative cosmos with performances, DJs, dancing, and the most out-of-this-world costumes in NYC! Join MoMA PS1 and the legendary Susanne Bartsch for an otherworldly gathering of sci-fi cyber babes, glam-rock robots, and arty extraterrestrials. The Sixth Annual Halloween Ball will feature a dance party with DJ sets by Eli Escobar, W Jeremy, Tom Peters, Amber Valentine, and Bridget Marie Zazaza Disco. More



Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade | Noon | Oct 21

Pooches let their alter-egos shine, putting on some of the cutest and most creative costumes you’ve ever seen at the annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade. CNN calls it “the largest dog costume parade in the world” with hundreds of dogs in costumes and thousands of spectators. The London Guardian says “It’s Barkin’ Mad.” This year’s parade contestants will be competing for thousands of dollars in prizes. More
