Summer in NYC

How to Spend July 4th, 2018 in NYC

The temperature is rising and you’re pouring sweat just waiting for your train to come, which must mean it’s about time for Independence Day in NYC! Whether you just want to enjoy your day off (hopefully) with a BBQ or go out for the festivities, Dial 7 has the goods for you this July 4th.

When are we gonna get to the fireworks?

For those of us not lucky enough to have access to a rooftop this July 4th, there are still plenty of spots to catch the annual Macy’s 4th of July fireworks along the East River. You can find a map of Macy’s official viewing spots along the FDR Drive. For those not in Manhattan, across the river in East River Park and the newly opened Domino Park in Williamsburg. In Long Island City, Gantry Plaza State Park also offers an amazing view of the festivities. When in doubt, any area with an open view of the East River would give you a great view of NYC’s 4th of July fireworks.

Fireworks are cool, but how else can I celebrate the USA?

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest has been taking place at Coney Island for almost every July 4th since 1972. What better way to celebrate America than watching defending champion, Joey Chestnut, try to break his own record of 72 hots dogs from last year?
