NYC Weekend Events: Street Fair, Smorgasburg & More

Summer is in full swing and there’s still lots of fun activities to spend your time with friends and family in NYC. Here’s a sampling of what’s going down this weekend:

Now in its eighth year, Smorgasburg takes place every Saturday at Williamsburg’s East River Park and every Sunday at Prospect Park’s Breeze Hill. Expect large crowds but plenty of the best local food vendors around NYC. Since it’s pretty doubtful you can try everything there (although I welcome the challenge), take a look at some of what’s worth eating this year via Thrillist.

The ninth annual Hester Street Fair takes place on the Lower East Side with a large array of local vendors to peruse and support, plus live music. The fair prides itself on being a one-of-a-kind curious, cultural and community gathering,” and runs every Saturday through October.

Have you had a chance to visit the Museum of the Moving Image yet? This weekend would be a great chance to check out the Astoria museum! Current programs include The Jim Henson Exhibition, plus screenings of a new 70mm print of 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Sound of Music, and more.

This Weekend in Live Music:
Now – 8/12: Seu Jorge @ Blue Note

Friday, 8/3:

Quicksand, Glassjaw, Primitive Weapons @ Brooklyn Steel
Against Me, Cherry Glazerr, Taking Meds @ House of Vans (Free with RSVP)
